In Asian philosophy, yin and yang is used to describe how polar opposites can complement each other. Also, yin is thought of as feminine and yang masculine. I think the challenge for all of us is to find an equal balance of masculine and feminine energy within ourselves. The feminine energies of perception, conception, imagination and feeling combine with the masculine energies of action, will, understanding and meaning, to create a whole and balanced self.

This sculpture is a representation of my strong desire for this balance, along with the hope and desire that others discover the necessity for this balance – both personally and in the world.
