As Spirit Warrior lifts out of her despair, the warrior in her wants to fight. Simultaneously, the spirit in her wants to conduct this battle in the right way – the right way for her. But of equal importance is a passionate desire that this be accomplished without losing her truer self – the loving nurturer within.

Spirit Warrior is one of the first sculptures I created. She was birthed at a time in my life when my own spirit was hurting – a time of deep sadness and confusion. But as strange as it may sound, there is a place within this sadness and confusion where beauty resides. The beauty that came bubbling up from this cauldron of despair was a truly enlightening realization that may not have come about otherwise.

The beauty of this journey would result in an enlightened understanding of the need for balance of both masculine and feminine energies – a more complete self. Sculpting nurtures my soul and feeds my spirit. I learned this as I was working with Spirit Warrior. It has healed my heartaches many times since. During these times of such chaos, tragedies and disasters in our world,  his ability has been a grand and glorious healer for me.

Sculpting allows me to discover and experience a sense of beauty and wonder. I hope this comes out in my sculptures and brings about some of these same feelings to those who experience my work.

At the same time, my fondest desire is that it helps them discover wonder and beauty existing in their own hearts and souls.
